Huntsville, AL, April 2010 --- Russell G. Brown, a former chairman of Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and the 2009 Alabama Hospital Association Trustee of the Year, died today after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Brown, the co-founder and CEO of DP Associates, was chairman of the chamber in 2000, and had been the chamber’s first Business Executive of the Year in 1986. He had served eight years on the Huntsville Hospital board of trustees, where he was currently the chairman. Mr. Brown was a longtime member of the Huntsville Planning Commission, serving from 1986 to 1998, serving 10 years as chairman. A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mr. Brown moved to Huntsville in 1965 as an employee of Northrop Corporation, where he worked as an information processing analyst on projects for Marshall Space Flight Center. Five years after joining Northrop, Brown founded DP Associates with Nate Griffin. Mr. Brown received numerous awards during his career, In 1991, he was named the State of Alabama Minority Business Person of the Year by the SBA. He was the first recipient of the University of Alabama in Huntsville Business Fellow Award, in 1986. In 1999, he received the Distinguished Community Service Award from Oakwood College.

DPA Wins Ares I Upper Stage MSFC Contract
